The trip of a Lifetime

Nine years ago Dave went on a fishing trip to Alaska with his Dad and brother. They had a wonderful time with lots of stories to share. Alan wanted to go really bad. Dave told him that he would have to grow as tall as his nose first because until then the fish would pull him into the river before he could pull them out. So the year has finally arrived. Alan had to wait a little longer than he would have liked but did not complain.
The original plan was to spend one day fishing on the Kenai River and two days fishing on the Kasilof River. Due to poor conditions on the Kenai River that trip was rescheduled for the Kasilof. They had so much fun on the Kasilof that they booked an extra day there for a total of 4 days king salmon fishing.
It is important to fish the tides and better to fish when it is not as crowded so often they started in the middle of the night which is possible because it is light around the clock. Dave says it was dusky for a couple of hours but did not get completely dark.
They put in long days and came home worn out. I thought that Alan would be burned out on fishing but I was wrong. He came home all charged up to go some more, especially ready to plan another big trip.
Dave was proud of how Alan handled the trip. He stood up well against the other fishermen, the long days and the big fish.
Final count for King salmon was Alan "5" with the biggest one weighing just over 25 lbs. Dave landed "6" with his biggest one also weighing over 25 lbs.
