Al's goose hunt

In December Alan drew out on a youth goose hunt. It was a two day event with lots of fun and educational activities on the first day followed by the hunt on the second day. Each youth is assigned a blind and a mentor for the hunt. Alan was very fortunate to get the best mentor and the best blind. His mentor is a big wig for the state of NM in the Game and Fish so Alan and Dave enjoyed visiting with him. The mentor also furnished decoys and a dog. This man is a serious hunter. They set out somewhere between 900-1,000 decoys. All of the hard work paid off and Alan successfully bagged 6 birds.
Out of 17 youth Alan took home the most birds. Dave wondered out loud if we were lucky or unlucky. Rumor has it that snow goose tastes worse than duck. Alan has confirmed this rumor.

Alan loves New Mexico's hunting opportunities.

And alas we are almost to the end of that bleak period of the year (Feb, March, & April for those of us who were not aware such a time existed) where there is no hunting or fishing.
